She is passionate about educating dental patients on good oral health and how it affects all the phases of life.
In 2019 Sharon completed a thesis titled, “The Dental Hygienists Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of Menopause Affecting Oral Disease and Conditions”. After learning there was a gap in knowledge among dental hygienists on how menopause affects oral health Sharon set out to educate all dental professionals on the topic. In her spare time, she enjoys golfing and vacationing in Maine with her husband.
Sharon participated in a medical/dental mission trip in 2018. The dental team was able to provide preventive dental services that included dental prophylaxis, flouride treatments, and oral hygiene instructions along with donations of toothbrush and paste supplies that were distribuated to patients. The abilty to serve the underserve in the Dominican Republic was one of the highlights in her career! She has also provided dental supplies and oral hygiene instructions to patrons of homeless shelters and has made donations of dental supplies to Operation Smile.
